LONDON | UNITED KINGDOM
What do you get when you mix editorial Rococo styling with edgy urban vibes? Magic. Add in a sensational moorish venue tucked away in the heart of bustling London and you get a truly unique feast for the eyes. This Victorian Bathhouse wedding looks like it has just jumped out of the pages of the finest couture magazines. A tour-de-force through the definition of delicious decadence: rich colours, textures, dramatic lighting and romance.
The day began in a suite at boutique hotel The LaLit London, where the bride and groom got ready together. When we arrived, the bride was putting the finishing touches to her dress: a gorgeous 18th century inspired gown which she customised herself. The bride’s hair by Izumi and her makeup by CESCA match the grandeur of 18th century court life infused with a London wedding editorial edge. The end result is an incredibly editorial look of Marie Antoinette meets Camden cool.
A short taxi ride away and we get to the chapel, where an intimate ceremony is held.
After the ceremony there is time for a few portraits, before we walk to the venue for the night: the Victorian Bathhouse. Inside, it is like being transported into a moorish hammam, except instead of being flooded by water, it is flooded by the glow of pink neon lights. A wonderful assortment of fruits greets us like a real life Dutch still life oil painting. Wonderful florals by Liana Verderocce and an ornate long table match the overall aesthetic.
The evening is spent eating, laughing, celebrating and – after a ‘stabbing of the cake‘ – some great dancing too. A fun detail of this Victorian Bathhouse wedding was the presence of a live portrait artist, that painted scenes and portrait of guests as the evening unfolded.
What blast we had shooting this one-of-a-kind London wedding!
